How much do you love Game of Thrones? Enough to open a vein?

Relax, it’s for a good cause – the annual For the Throne blood donation drive in partnership with the American Red Cross. Blood drives will take place in 43 states and 9 college campuses across the U.S. from March 7-12; participants will be richly rewarded with an exclusive t-shirt, entry into a contest to attend the GoT season 8 world premiere, and that warm feeling you get when you do a spot of good in this grim world.

The pot is significantly sweetened for SXSW attendees. After giving blood, attendees can then “walk in the steps of the characters” in an activation crafted by Giant Spoon (the same folks behind last year’s massive SXSWestworld experience). The GoT SXSW Activation runs Thursday-Saturday, March 7-9, at Fair Market (1100 E. Fifth St.).

Blood donation appointments, here and around the country, are strongly encouraged. Additionally, Lyft will be providing rides (up to $10) to Red Cross blood donation centers around the country.
