  • CYT Austin presents Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr.

    The Little Mermaid Jr. takes place in a magical kingdom beneath the sea, where a beautiful young mermaid named Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father, the king of the sea, escape the clutches of an evil sea witch and convince a prince that she’s the girl with the perfect voice. Tickets $18.

    Celebrate the 1865 announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas. The parade starts at MLK & Salina and continues down Chicon, heading east on Rosewood then north on Chestnut up to Pleasant Valley. Then enjoy music, food, and entertainment at Rosewood Park.

"This remarkable play engages young adults and audiences of all ages, bringing science and imagination into the theatre."       Black History Bike Ride

      The ride guides participants on a historical tour of Black Central East Austin in an effort to preserve Austin’s history while pushing forward on the social justice movement sparked last year after the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Stops include the Clarksville landmark Haskell House, the Barbara Jordan statue, the historically Black Huston-Tillotson University, and the historic Victory Grill.

      Dreamland: National Sumo Championships

      Yes, that one-of-a-kind outdoor entertainment, recreation, and arts venue in Dripping Springs is hosting the U.S. Sumo Federation's 2021 National Sumo Championships. It'll be a weekend celebration of Japanese culture, spread across the venue’s 64 Hill Country acres and offering an array of entertainments – Kendo and Kyudo exhibitions, Taiko drumming, Asian food specialties, and more – in addition to the hot Sumo action.
