Texas Rollergirls: Twice as nice, zero price

Anyone for some free Roller Derby, courtesy of the Texas Rollergirls? How’s about a free public scrimmage today, followed by a live webcast of the first ever intercontinental Women’s Flat Track Derby Association-sanctioned bout?

At 2pm today, Saturday March 20, the local flat-track Roller Derby league will be holding a free demonstration at the Pan Am Rec Center, 2100 E. Third. That’s the perfect opportunity to catch (and become addicted to) the fastest growing sport in the nation, for nothing.

Then at 3pm Austin’s own Hustlers make history when they play London Brawling before a sold-out crowd at the ExCel Center in London, England. Yeah, you read that right. Now if that sounds like a bit of a drive, you can always catch the live Web broadcast at 3pm Central, courtesy of the Derby News Network.

We’ll talk with the Hustlers when they return: Meanwhile, you can read their travel blog here.
