Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s the first full bout of the Texas Rollergirls 2010 season.

Last month saw 2009 champions the Hotrod Honeys go 3-0 through the season opening round robin. Yet the new-look Hustlers gave them the toughest challenge they’ve seen from a home team in over a year. Fresh from their victorious trip to Europe (more on that later this week) in which the purple-clad skaters took on the London Rollergirls, the Hustlers are looking to pull off the big upset of the season.

In the second bout of the night, the Honky Tonk Heartbreakers and the Hell Marys take to the jammer line. While the Hustlers and Hotrods bout is a re-run of last year’s title match-up, it’s still an open season. For either team in this bout, if they can find that certain spark of greatness, this could be the beginning of a run straight to the title.

The bout takes place March 28 at Playland Skate Center, 8822 McCann Drive: First whistle at 7pm, doors 6.30pm. Tickets available now.
