Someone call Ted Koppel! As if being Chronicle cover stars was not enough, the Texas Rollergirls continue to expand their media empire tonight with an appearance on ABC News’ Nightline.

Reporters for the late night news mainstay were in Austin for the May bout, and they have finally edited the footage together before Saturday’s big Texecutioner throw-down with the Denver Derby Dolls at the Austin Convention Center (Saturday, July 16, 6pm, doors 5.15pm, tickets on sale now.) Complete with a major interview with all-star jammer Olivia Shootin’ John, the show will be looking in-depth at the local league’s impact on the world’s fastest growing women’s sport. The show runs tonight locally on KVUE at 10.35pm Central, so set your DVRs and break out your official Hell Mary vuvuzelas.

This was not the only time the Texas Rollergirls were in front a camera. Recently several skaters got to show off their second favorite hobby as they join Hilah Johnson of Hilah Cooking to develop a new official Texas Rollergirls’ cocktail. Sports fans, meet the Spicy Pickleback (which, coincidentally, will be served this Friday, July 15, at the pre-bout pep rally at the Gibson Room, 1109 S. Lamar, 7-9pm.)
