Between budget cuts and layoffs, Texas teachers have every right to feel a little underappreciated this year. That’s why the Texas Rollergirls have declared Saturday’s bout Teacher Appreciation Night. Just use the promo code TEACHERSROCK when purchasing online for a two-for-one ticket offer (you must present a valid teacher’s ID when collecting your tickets). In the first Saturday night matchup since the league moved to the Austin Convention Center, the resurgent Hell Marys are looking to end their losing streak. To break that dry spell, they must score a major upset over last year’s champions, the Hotrod Honeys. In the real main event, the Honky Tonk Heartbreakers and the Hustlers fight for the right to challenge the Honeys for the title in August’s season closer. Locals Butcher Bear & Charlie will grace the stage as this bout’s musical guest and will hand out free CDs to the first 400 lucky fans. Sat., June 11, 6pm (5pm, doors). Austin Convention Center. 500 E. Cesar Chavez. $15; $12, advance; free, kids under 12. www.texasrollergirls.org.
