I thought I’d recognized Michael Welch, a star of All the Boys Love Mandy Lane somewhere before. After the Saturday night screening I remembered him as the geeky brother on TV’s most excellent Joan of Arcadia. He plays a semi-geeky, but decidedly different and bloodier role in horror flick Mandy Lane. Welch bemoaned the critically acclaimed show’s demise, but admits that life after the series has been good for most of the cast, including Amber Tamblyn, who has been all over the big screen of late, and John Ritter’s son Jason, who is starring in the series The Class.

Welch is a standout in Mandy Lane, which the Weinstein Co. is expected to release later this year. Think a mix of Halloween and Heathers.
