Records are like a mogwai. Never get them wet. Never expose them to sunlight. And no matter how much they cry, no matter how much they beg, never feed them after midnight.

Not so, says Austin-based record label Mondo Vinyl. Their new 2-disc release of the soundtrack to Joe Dante’s Eighties rubber monster Christmas classic is the first time Jerry Goldsmith’s wonderfully creepy score has been available in full-on vinyl. But that’s not the real surprise: It’s the artwork by Phantom City Creative. Put the gatefold sleeve of Stripe the gremlin in daylight, and secret messages from the destructive monsters appear. Wipe the inner sleeves with a damp cloth, and cute little Gizmo isn’t on his own anymore.

So, it’s OK to get this Gremlins collectible wet, or to expose it to sunlight. But seriously, don’t feed a record after midnight.
