Jaws on the water. Who hasn’t done that? Well, the Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow is going bigger and toothier this weekend for The Meg, the upcoming underwater monster movie starring Jason Statham and a giant ancient shark.
Based on Steve Alten’s bonkers and beloved 1997 submerged sci-fi horror novel Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror (because colons make books fancy!), this perfect end cap to the summer heat (we wish) is about a 65-foot megalodon (the name literally means “big tooth”) that somehow avoided going extinct a few million years ago, and now has decided that humans are a tasty treat.
But you don’t have to dive to the bottom of the Marianas Trench to find this particular swimming horror. This Sunday, the Rolling Roadshow will host as special advance screening at Volente Beach Resort on Lake Travis, including not only a special floating showing of the movie, but also access to the rest of the resort, including the terrifying Sidewinder.
