Laughs are in short supply right now, and that’s why ATX Television Festival is making sure we all stay Upright with a first look at the hilarious new comedy, and an exclusive Q&A with creator/star Tim Minchin, two weeks ahead of its TV debut.
Upright stars the Australian/British comedy megastar as Laclan “Lucky” Flynn, a screw-up on a bizarre but deeply personal mission to get an upright piano (thus the name) cross-country, only to be helped/hindered by a sardonic young runaway, Meg (Milly Alcock).
The show has already been a smash in Australia and the U.K. in its first season, and arrives on American screens heads via Sundance Now and eOne Television on August 6.
However, to make up for having to cancel their planned panel for the ATX Television Festival when it made the jump to virtual, the creators are giving audience a special streaming preview. The first two episodes screen at 7pm on Tuesday, July 21, and will be followed straight up with an exclusive Q&A between Minchin (who also wrote and produced the show) and guest moderator Judd Apatow, followed by a live chat with Alcock and Minchin.
And this will all happen for free on ATX’s YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/atxfestival, starting at 7pm Central on July 21.
