“I still have PTSD from making that movie.” So sayeth Richard Linklater about Dazed and Confused, and he gets to relive that trauma with an upcoming book and special virtual signing event, hosted by Austin Film Society.

The story of the making of the most star-studded film in Austin cinema history (deep breath Ben Affleck, Parker Posey, Rory Cochrane, Joey Lauren Adams, Milla Jovovich, Adam Goldberg, Renée Zellweger, Cole Hauser, and Matthew McConaughey) is captured in the new book by Vulture cofounder Melissa Maerz, Alright, Alright, Alright: The Oral History of Richard Linklater’s Dazed and Confused.

To celebrate the Nov. 17 release of the book from HarperCollins, on Nov. 18 at 7pm AFS will be hosting a special streaming event, a conversation between Linklater and Maerz, moderated by Andy Greenwald (co-host of The Ringer podcast The Watch).

Tickets for the virtual event are free to AFS members and $10 for non-members (but why not become a member? It’d be a lot cooler if you did) at www.austinfilm.org. Plus, since this is a virtual reading and signing, you can buy the book via Bookpeople, AFS’ partner store: a limited number will come signed by Linklater and Maerz.
