U.S. Sen. Hutchison: Homesick or not?

The constant occupation that is second-guessing the plans of U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison took another spin around the dance floor this week with advanced word of her interview in Texas Monthly in which she does nothing to dispel any of the rumors.

First, she said she has no plans to run for Senate again in 2012. But then that’s what she was saying all through the last election. So no change there, then. She also didn’t rule out running for governor in 2010, but she didn’t rule it in, either. Which, again, doesn’t change anything. Back in April, Hutchison told the Dallas Morning News that she hadn’t ruled out a gubernatorial run in 2010. However, her senate term doesn’t actually expire until 2012.

However, if she is going to run in ’10, that means another empty seat on Capitol Hill, which is exactly what the GOP probably doesn’t want. Especially since the Dems regard her fellow Texan senator John Cornyn as low-hanging fruit for next year, and are probably slavering at the possibility of a totally Democratic Texas Senate caucus.

So, just to clarify, Kay Bailey Hutchison won’t be a senator in 2013.
