John Dean: Knows a thing or two about the GOPresidency

While the Howard Dean Campaign Bus is swinging through town for the Netroots Nation Convention (see Wells Dunbar’s upcoming bloggage of the Deanster), the O.D. (original Dean) is in Austin too. John Dean, the man who ruined Pres. Nixon‘s day, will be holding a book signing/fund raiser this afternoon at 5pm at the Waterloo Ice House at Sixth and Lamar. That’s in advance of his appearance at tomorrow morning’s The Next President and the Law panel.

Tonight Dean will be signing copies of his latest book on the imperial presidency, Broken Government: How Republican Rule Destroyed the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial Branches, and discussing the impact of the last few Republican presidencies. All funds from the event go to the 2008 Travis County Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign. Sponsorships run from $1,000 for 10 reserved seats to $10 admission for students, but the press release says that “No one will be turned away for inability to pay.”
