Anxious Dems watch returns Credit: photos by Lee Nichols

The Democratic crowd has assembled at the Driskill in pretty big numbers, and the mood is carefully optimistic. Early results from Florida got the first big cheers from the faithful flock, which started thin and got denser the closer the evening got to the close of the local polls. So far, the news has all been about the potential national race results, but the expectation is for early voting results to turn up soon, and be a good indicator for local results.

Rep. Donna Howard‘s taken the suite nearest to the big screen on the first floor (which needy journalists have started scouting for spare food) and is the first rep to start doing interviews. That will shape up as the evening proceeds, and Rep Valinda Bolton is reportedly already here.
