President George W. Bush

Check this out. The New York Times has a slide show featuring several comics MAD Magazine recently solicited from Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonists across the country on the following topic: Why George W. Bush Is in Favor of Global Warming. Which Austinite drew the honor of drawing Dubya?

As you might expect, Ben Sargent – that single ray-of-light on the Statesman editorial page – turned in a broadside slam against Bush over global warming and his administration’s unbothered response to Hurricane Katrina: “To his feble mind, decades of hot baking sun are just the thing to finally dry out New Orleans.” Ouch.

It’s of a piece with the increasingly outraged tone the merry pranksters at MAD have taken against the imperialist abuses of the Bush presidency (albeit, maybe a few years too late).
