Sen. Van de Putte: temporarily the Senate's Emily Post.

Remember the rumor that, after last week’s falling out with Sen. John Whitmire, D-Houston, the Senate sent a delegation to have a quick word with Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst about manners?

Seems there’s some truth to the gossip: While the staff of Woodlands’ Republican Sen. Tommy Williams issued a rapid “no comment” whether he was in the politeness posse or not, it was not so for San Antonio Dem Sen. Leticia Van de Putte.

The good people of her office confirmed this morning that, yes, she did meet with Dewhurst last week over what they euphemistically called “Senate family business.”

Don’t worry, Lt. Gov. – only one week until session’s end.
