So before the debaters took to the stage, Texas Democratic Party chair Boyd Richie did his shout-outs to UT (big cheer), the Texas Democratic Party (bigger cheer … wuh?) and the LBJ school (biggish cheer.)

Not the biggest cheer for UT? Was the crowd not ready or something? They must just not have the speakers set up right in the press room. Only possible explanation.
