So as the sun beats down on our already frazzled brain, one question overheats our overstretched noggins: Who will be playing Fun Fun Fun Fest 2011? Looks like we got a video clue Thursday morning, so break out your nautical flag books.
Yup, looks like they’re really taking the idiom of the lakeside venue to heart. Transmission Entertainment will be teasing the full bill for their three-day lakefront extravaganza over the next few weeks, but one big cat may already been let out of the bag when Consequence of Sound announced Okkervil River had listed their hometown extravaganza as part of their Fall tour. Grain of salt time: That date does not appear on Okkervil’s official website (same with another set of similarly-rumored FFFers, French digital shoegazers M83.) Look out for more hints and leaks before the full line-up is announced in August. The next round of advance tickets (codename: Fun #2) go on sale later this month, but here’s a teaser/flashback to last year’s festivities.
The Black & White Years, “Patterns”
Well, if the chains on the door are anything to go by, it looks like Venue 222 is no more. So that makes The Black & White Years one of the last bands to play on the Sixth Street stage. Chepo in Heat: Live at Red 7
Great investment opportunity for some horror business: Former Fabulous Thunderbird, hard-rocking Lowlife and cancer survivor Nick Curran will be returning to the stage with his ghoulish homage to the Misfits, Children in Heat. Watch the blood flow, complete with Cramps-a-likes the Gorehounds and the pulchritudinous undead go-go shimmy of Dolls from the Crypt, at Emo’s on July 29. Just to give you a sick little taste of what is in store, we grabbed a bit of footage from the special Chepo in Heat fundraiser for Nick at Red 7 in May (complete with totally authentic blown-out Static Age-era bootleg sound quality.)
