Hard to believe Marmalakes is only just now releasing its debut full-length – eight years after the band burst onto the local scene with Wonder Winds. Three more EPs followed that 2010 bow, but Please Don’t Stop – releasing May 11 on Austin Town Hall Records – marks the indie pop duo’s first new recordings since 2013.

Chase Weinacht and Josh Halpern haven’t lost a step, however. The new songs burst with their trademark literary charm and intricate arrangements. “Slow Dance,” the latest preview and penultimate track on next month’s 10-song offering, unfolds with a subtle, contemplative beauty, countering their more uptempo tumbles of previously released album cuts “Milwaukee, WI” and “I’m Not Gonna Control You.”

Here’s “Slow Dance,” and one can pre-order Please Don’t Stop from their website. The Austin release show remains TBD, but the duo heads west after a tour kick-off at the Volstead on Tuesday, April 17.
