Chromeo

Flamingo Cantina, Thursday, March 15

“Chromeo, Chromeo, Chrom-E-OOOOOO!” the packed house chanted before the Vice Records showcase came to a close. And when best friends from childhood Pee Thug and Dave 1 took the stage with a synthesizer talk box and a clear Flying V guitar, plus live electronic drums, the dance party shot off like a flare. Mastering call-and-response with debut album She’s in Control opener “Me and My Man,” Dave and Pee were all grins and bounce. “The new album is called Fancy Footwork,” Dave announced before jumping into the strobing title track, “but you can call it FaFo for short.” Gliding through the smooth “You’re So Gangsta” and crowd-pleasing “Destination Overdrive,” the Montrealers hit home with MySpace funky favorite “Needy Girl” and sing-along “Rage!,” which proved that every crowd loves to yell “motherfucking” whenever possible. The utter joy and get-down love came with an electronic cover medley encore of the Outfield’s “Your Love” and Journey’s “Any Way You Want It.” “If you don’t like us,” Dave announced, “you’re a Nazi!” Damn straight.
