Alongside support for Black-owned restaurants and local Black Lives Matter protests, it’s an essential time to turn out for Austin’s Black musicians.
Without gigs, merch and digital sales remain one of the few direct sources of income for artists during the COVID-19 pandemic. Past revenue shares on the popular music platform Bandcamp raised over $4.3 million, with all proceeds put directly into musicians’ and labels’ pockets. The storefront continues to waive their share of sales the first Friday of every month – including today, Friday, June 5, until 1:59am Saturday, Central Time.
