In light of the city shutting down South by Southwest over coronavirus concerns, the Austin Music Awards and ACL Live/Stratus Properties have partnered to raise funds for the local music community.
Initially the Austin Music Awards only planned to open the floor and mezzanine of ACL Live for the 38th annual local ceremony. Now tickets will be sold for the balcony level. They’re $10 and go on sale at noon on Wednesday, March 11, which is the day of the awards, at the ACL Live box office — first come first served. Floor tickets are still available for those wanting to ensure a spot.
The Society for the Preservation of Texas Music, which produces the Music Awards, are still determining how the funds will be specifically allocated.
Wednesday’s Music Awards will be hosted by comedian Chris Cubas and spirited homegrown musician Jackie Venson. The performer lineup includes Big Wy’s Horns, Bill Carter, Blackillac, Charlie Sexton, DJ Chorizo Funk, Emily Gimble, Grupo Fantasma, Hard Proof, Harry & Emmy, Jack Ingram, Jon Dee Graham, Kathy McCarty, Rich Brotherton, Sir Woman, Walker Lukens & the Side Arms, and the Well.
