Fall Creek Winery makes some of Texas’s most famous wines. More importantly, owners Susan and Ed Auler have invested enormous amounts of their personal money and time in helping to show that great wines can come from Texas.
As much as we’d all like to get the chance to learn about wines starting at $100 a bottle, the truth of the matter is everyone has to start somewhere and Fall Creek has spent money on developing high-quality wines even at a moderate price.
We recently had a backyard picnic where we served grilled burgers, tater tots, and a bitter frisée salad. Fall Creek’s Merlot Rosé ($20) made a tasty addition because its fruity strawberry character matched up with the bitterness of the frisée while the round, plum flavors of the Merlot matched up with the freshly ground beef.
Both of Fall Creek’s locations are now open. The winery at Tow is the original Auler winery. The location in Driftwood is directly across from the Salt Lick, which allows you to create your own all-Texas food fantasy!
