Jeff Schmulen spent several years in Italy and fell in love with its nut liqueurs, especially the walnut version called nocino. Back in lovely Austin, he thought, why not make a liqueur from pecans? The only problem was financing.

Since Kickstarter financing is all the rage, Schmulen decided to give it a shot. (See the details at http://bit.ly/drinkpecano.) His Kickstarter campaign runs out June 9, and for anyone curious to sample his product, Jeff is hosting a party at J.Blacks Feel Good Kitchen & Lounge (710 W. Sixth) on Friday, June 8, from 7pm till closing.

We had a chance to sit down and try a taste with Jeff and hear a little about his passionate desire to make a Texas Liqueur.
