You’ve got to wonder if any of the competitors will be wearing bikinis when the new sports bar Bikini’s Bar & Grill (6901 N. I-35, 454-2247) hosts the 2007 World French Fry-Eating Championship this weekend. The event is sanctioned by the International Federation of Competitive Eating, and three of the top 10 IFOCE eaters in the country will compete for the $1,000 first prize by eating the signature “bikini-string” fries; Saturday, Jan. 27, 1pm.

Blair House Inn (100 W. Spoke Hill Rd. in Wimberley, 512/847-1111, www.blairhouseinn.com) kicks off their 2007 Vintner Dinner Series with the wines of Texas’ largest premium winery, Llano Estacado. Dinner will be prepared by chef Mark Malowski, and the wines will be presented by Joshua Coffee. Reservations are necessary; Saturday, Jan. 27, 7pm.
