Blackbird is the second restaurant in Austin to do so, following Lenoir in 2012. This program would help the restaurant raise funds and give the community a chance to invest and reap membership benefits, including priority reservations and special access to their events.
This business model is gaining steam across the U.S., which stemmed from the community supported agriculture model introduced in the mid-Eighties – a method for the community to support and invest in a farm, allowing farmers to get cash even in winter months. The idea caught on and now there are even community supported pie and community supported bacon plans.
The CSR costs $1000 for a one-year membership, and members would receive a $1,250 house account that can be spent on food, drinks, and gratuity. To register, email info@blackbirdandhenry.com.
