    Bike Month

I’ll admit it: I don’t believe in Peter Pan, Frankenstein, or Superman. All I wanna do is bicycle! Bike Month ATX promises two-wheeler fun for the whole month of May. Break out the 10-speed, the recumbent, the cruiser, and join your fellow cyclists in the last nice weather days in Austin. There’s bike polo on May 5, or an all-level ride around Walnut Creek on the 19th. Help with meal delivery on the 22nd or pedal under a full moon on the 24th. Find pretty much every kind of bike fun under the sun (and moon!) at bikemonthatx.com, because those bicycle races? They’re coming your way. – James Scott

    Adaptations Book Club

Ah, the eternal debate: Which was better, the book or the book of the film? Physical media defenders We Luv Video hope to settle this debate – or at least, keep it polite – with the Adaptations Book Club, where readers and film lovers hash out what makes it from the page to the screen. After coming together in perfect harmony for Pride & Prejudice, now the club picks up the debate over whether either of the big screen adaptations of The Stepford Wives – or the baffling sequels and spin-offs – matches Ira Levin’s acid satire. Grab a copy ahead of the night via bookshop.org/shop/weluvvideo to make sure you’re helping this movie-loving nonprofit. – Richard Whittaker

Disney on Ice Presents Magic in the Stars

Win your child’s love through any ice means necessary. That’s right: Disney brings out the big skates for a magical musical experience featuring performances by all the kiddos’ favorites. Does that mean Mickey? Yes, and also Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Daisy, and two little-known royals named Anna and Elsa – plus many, many more characters that’ll make everyone’s faces light up in wonder. Gonna miss this school-night soiree? No worries: These icecapades run through May 12. – James Scott

Kurt Elling & Danilo Pérez (9:30)

Singer Kurt Elling became one of the most popular male jazz vocalists in America over the course of 30-plus years, due to a penchant for creative arrangements and insistence on not making the Great American Songbook the spine of his repertoire. Pianist Danilo Pérez exited his native Panama to become a highly acclaimed solo artist, bandleader, and Smithsonian Legacy Award winner, though he’s best known as the long-running pianist for the late, great Wayne Shorter. The pair collaborated on 2020’s Secrets Are the Best Stories; this show is either Secrets’ long-delayed tour or a preview of new music on the horizon. – Michael Toland
