Do the things we do to make a difference, make a difference? Like yesterday’s Spirit Day, ya know: Wear purple. End Bullying. Or PFLAG’s month-long OUTober fest, or that – come Sunday – we walk for AIDS. A difference in the heart is a start. This weekend, party like a rockstar while supporting the fabulous, glitterous community we’re lucky enough to call ours.
Friday: Tonight, seek comfort and community as PFLAG invites any and all self-identified women to share their coming out stories. It’s an OUTober event that’s sure to tug a few heartstrings, and maybe even help us bid adieu to any leftover demons. Good riddance.
Suggestion: Share a story. It’s like therapy for you and those listening.
Saturday: Forget American Horror Story, because tonight Cheer Up Charlie’s is turning into a carnival of twisted drag. A freak show, you might say. To those who are faint of heart, be warned. It’s going carnEVIL.
Suggestion: Don’t miss a terrifying moment in our countdown to Halloween. Get twisted outside at 10, then untwist to Divorcee’s Dead Disco Dance party inside.
Sunday: We keep saying it, but it keeps being true. Sundays really are the new it day. How so? Well, this week we’re walking for AIDS during daylight hours. That’s right, walk to raise awareness, end stigma – who needs that?! – and raise some much needed funds for AIDS Services of Austin.
Then ride your high all to GirlFriend’s Sade Sundays at Vinyl, or Rain’s Kweird Sunday nights – this week, they’re promising bands that light up the dance floor. Curiouser and curiouser.
Suggestion: Lend some cash, lend some time, and spread the word. Together, maybe we put an end to this virus.
