Academy Award winner, director, journalist, and Madonna’s ex-boyfriend Sean Penn will appear at Central Presbyterian Church on April 3 to promote his first book, Bob Honey Who Just Do Stuff. Penn will speak with Rice University history professor Douglas Brinkley, author of Cronkite and The Great Deluge.

Bob Honey Who Just Do Stuff is a darkly humorous novel that follows the life and misadventures of middle-aged divorcee Bob Honey, who dabbles in various odd hobbies and interests like sewage specialization, pyrotechnics, and being a contract killer for a strange and mysterious government organization that will only pay him in small bills. We assume it’s not inspired by Penn’s own experience.

Tickets for the Austin appearance, sponsored by BookPeople, are currently on sale and can only be purchased online through Brown Paper Tickets. Admission includes a copy of Penn’s book as well as a signed bookplate. Keep your questions about Fast Times at Ridgemont High as short as possible, as there will be a lot of fans in line behind you.
