Or pictured yourself spinning around in a giant hula hoop? Make it a reality with expert instruction from aerial expert Jamiza Dar. Pease Park’s annual celebration of spring returns courtesy of Pease Park Conservancy and the cool folks of Future Front. Indeed, the artist-focused community org will present several open-sky all-ages creative workshops – and all for free. Work with artist Tanya Zal on making clay mushrooms; create seed balls with “drag fairy” Gothess Jasmine; paint nature pieces with artist Kayla Kennedy; make friendship bracelets; and join Where’d the Wild Things Go for Austin bird bingo. Plus: family-friendly DJ sets by locals SuperMcN4sty and Knstalgia, yoga, puppet shows, and face painting, followed by a screening of DreamWorks’ Trolls. Feel like getting out in nature and enjoying spring before it turns into an unbearably hot summer? Just about an hour away lies 1,200 acres of ecologically sensitive land packed to the brim with gorgeous scenery and protected wildlife, and the Hill Country Conservancy invites you to come explore on this open weekend. They’ll have some reps on hand to answer questions, but this will be a self-guided experience you can do at your own pace over a couple of hours, and entry times will be staggered to ensure a peaceful experience for one and all. – Kat McNevins

A special program for visitors ages 0-3 and their families, providing caregivers and early learners the chance to experience the children's museum together. Thinkery will host two storytimes and free play that support the social, emotional, and cognitive development of the earliest learners.

This program from the city of Austin, run by Farmshare Austin, has opened new market locations. There are now six weekly markets around town that sell Texas-grown produce, eggs, honey, and other groceries all at reduced prices. Most major cards are accepted at these markets and if you are a SNAP customer, you can also use your Lone Star card and Double Up Food Bucks. Locations and schedules are subject to change, so check the current info online to find one near you.

If dogs could drink, what would be their tipple of choice? My guess: a cold brewski on a good day, but a frozen daiquiri when they’ve had a tough one. Now, dogs cannot actually drink alcohol – not even Spuds MacKenzie – but you can sup for the pups by purchasing a Pawsport from Austin Humane Society. By dropping a crisp $25, you’ll be able to bring your dog along to Dog House Drinkery, MUTTS Canine Cantina Austin, Yard Bar, or the Watering Bowl, where they can run about an on-site dog park and you can get a free drink. The 15th annual Sherwood Forest Faire begins this Saturday and remains open on weekends from 10am to dusk, rain or shine, till April 21. Over 170 artisans will be peddling their wares and showing off demonstrations of the serious craft it takes to make them, ranging from glass blowers, blacksmiths, potters, and leather armor makers to weavers, jewelers, and visual artists. With over 150 live performances a day to choose from, you could witness full-contact jousting, falconry, swordplay, archery, juggling, comedy, or theatre. We all know the best part of the faire is the turkey legs though – so don yourself a cheeky costume, let the mead flow, and get thee to McDade this spring. – Lina Fisher
