    Cine Las Americas International Film Festival 2014

    Now in its 17th year, this annual festival continues through Sunday. The opening and closing-night galas will be held at the Marchesa Hall & Theatre, along with many other new, international releases, and the Hecho en Tejas lineup. Competition narrative features and shorts will be shown on two screens at the Alamo Drafthouse Village. The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center will host free screenings of films in the documentary competition and the Emergencia Youth Film Day on Saturday, April 26. Free screenings will also be offered at St. Edward's University's Jones Auditorium. Pioneer Chicano filmmaker Efraín Gutiérrez will be honored at a retrospective of his films at the Marchesa, for which he will be present.
