Street Scenes

Few candidates have been so beloved by the press — in particular the hometown press. Most of the critical reporting daily newspapers have done on Bush has been done by out-of-state publications — such as The Boston Globe, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The Chicago Tribune. Above, Bush meets a friendly pack of reporters in Texas during his last gubernatorial campaign. Fleeing a choreographed and scripted party convention in August, some reporters found a better story in demonstrations on the streets of Philadelphia.
