Contrast Film Festival launches its inaugural three-day event on Friday, July 20, but this is not your typical film fest. Seeking to defy gender and push boundaries, Contrast offers traditional movie screenings, live comedy, and performance art. With an emphasis on queer and women filmmakers from the fringe, creators Tish Sparks and Jeremy Von Stilb (of Homo Arigato) hope to shine a spotlight on artists who rarely receive mainstream success.
