November 7-10

Long ago outgrowing its single-venue origins, locally-curated psych festival Levitation now sprawls more than the entirety of the Red River Cultural District, spilling over into seven clubs, a nearby church, and the Waterloo Greenway’s Creek Show (under the bridge) for more than 35 different events across four days and nights. Among festival veterans Windhand, Black Mountain, and Chelsea Wolfe (playing a special acoustic set), this year’s lineup also includes appearances from Bristol’s Beak>, Belgium’s Brutus, and New Zealand’s Jonathan Bree; local personality and Jesus Lizard frontman David Yow takes the reins of reunited Bay Area noise-punks Flipper; and the Velvet Underground’s John Cale headlines a night with festival founders the Black Angels.
