HIV/AIDS Information Resources
Since 1993, researchers have been working to develop a better
understanding of the activity of HIV in the body, and about the immune system’s
response to HIV. The knowledge they gain contributes to more effective
treatments and better management of HIV disease.
The most comprehensive, reliable, and most easily understood information
regarding HIV disease is available in newsletters and publications dedicated to
HIV/AIDS. These resources, available in English and some in Spanish, offer the
most current information on disease management options, treatment research, and
development, and healthy living issues. Below is a list of some of some
HIV/AIDS resources, many of which are available at a reduced cost (or free) to
people with financial difficulties.
AIDS Treatment News: A biweekly newsletter about experimental,
standard, and alternative treatments for AIDS. Subscriptions are available at a
reduced cost for people with low income. Call

BETA (Bulletin of Experimental Treatments for AIDS): Published
quarterly by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, this newsletter presents
detailed discussions on experimental, standard, and alternative treatments.

PI Perspective: A newsletter published twice yearly with
information about HIV disease and treatments for HIV-related illnesses.
Published by Project Inform, this newsletter also features articles on public

Positively Aware: The monthly journal of the Test Positive Aware
Network features practical guidelines for healthy living and information about
options for management of HIV infection. Articles are written in lively, easy
to understand language. Annual subscription cost is $25. Call 312/404-8726 for

SIDAhora: A bilingual publication of the PWA Coalition (New
York), written by and for Hispanic/Latino people with HIV/AIDS. This quarterly
publication provides information in Spanish about HIV disease, standard,
experimental, and alternative treatments. Call 800/828-3280 for information.
Treatment Issues: Published monthly by Gay Men’s Health Crisis,
this newsletter features articles on experimental, standard, and alternative
treatments for HIV infection and related illnesses as well as information about
disease management options. An individual subscription is $35. Free

W.O.R.L.D.: Published monthly by Women Organized to Respond to
Life-threatening Diseases, this newsletter is by, for, and about women facing
HIV disease. The publication includes medical information as well as articles
and personal stories about psychosocial and emotional issues. W.O.R.L.D. also
publishes Mujer Imagen de Vida, a quarterly newsletter.
