Straight Voice

Over the past five years, the percentage of AIDS cases contracted
through heterosexual contract alone has increased dramatically. This is true
for Austinites of all backgrounds. Heterosexual persons living with HIV/AIDS
may experience feelings of isolation, grief, anger, frustration, fear, and
other emotions.

People’s Community Clinic will offer a support group for straight men and
women living with HIV/AIDS. The group, Straight Voices, offers a safe place to
exchange emotional support, share common experiences and to make new friends.

Straight Voices will meet from 5:30-7:00pm on Thursday evenings. A six-week
commitment is required
. The group begins June 8. The group facilitators are
Lois VanLaningham, LMSW-ACP, and Mary Ann Bruce, M.Ed. The group is free,
confidential, and sensitive to recovery issues. For additional information and
to register, call Lois
at 469-2162.
