All four of Wednesday’s Women’s World Cup group games have been postponed one day due to Typhoon Wipha.
FIFA yesterday moved the Norway-Ghana and Brazil-Denmark games, both to be played in Hangzhou, to Thursday because of the adverse weather conditions; on game day they decided to postpone Australia-Canada (in Chengdu), and China-Ghana (Tianjin) as well.
So what that leaves us for tomorrow morning is:
Thursday, 4am: Norway-Ghana; Australia-Canada (C)
Commonwealth showdown. Canada must beat Australia to advance; otherwise the Matildas go. Norway should handle Ghana; a draw guarantees them a spot, but a big win puts them at the top of the group, and avoiding Brazil in the quarterfinal.
Thursday, 7am: China-New Zealand; Brazil-Denmark (D)
Brazil’s the hot team right now, and the group winner unless they lose by four or five goals. Denmark probably needs a win to advance, because the hosts should beat New Zealand.
Then the quarterfinals are this weekend:
Saturday, 4am: Germany-North Korea
Saturday, 7am: USA-England
Sunday, 4am: 1C 2D (Norway/Australia v. China/Denmark?)
Sunday, 7am: Brazil 2C (Norway/Australia/Canada?)
