The University Interscholastic League Spring Meet is under way to determine the high school state championships in tennis, golf, and track & field. The tennis wraps up today at UT’s Penick-Allison Courts and Lakeway World of Tennis; the golf continues through Friday at the Lions Municipal, Roy Kizer, and Morris Williams courses around town. The biggest crowd shows up Friday and Saturday: the track & field championships at UT’s Myers Stadium, one of the most-watched high school track championships in the nation, rivaled only by California’s. The highlights will be many, but here’s my race to watch: the class 5A boys 100 meters, with San Antonio Stevens’ Rynell Parson. He currently has the fastest high school time in the nation at 10.32 seconds … and he’s only a sophomore!
