It’s been inevitable all year that stand-out Austin Toros guard Alonzo Gee would get the big-league call-up. Yesterday, March 7, it was announced that the Washington Wizards of the NBA have signed him.

Gee started all 35 games he appeared in with the Toros this season averaging 21 points and 6.6 rebounds in 38.2 minutes of action per night. We wish Gee all good luck in the NBA.

The Toros are currently on their yearly March road trip to make room in the Austin Convention Center for South by Southwest. Buffalo Billiards (201 E. Sixth) will be hosting a watch party on Tuesday March 9 as the Toros face the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at 7:30pm.

The Capital City Dancers and Toros’ mascot Da Bull will be in attendance and there will be drink specials and appetizers for fans to nosh on.

Austin’s next home game is Tue., March 23, 7:30pm, versus the Springfield Armor.
