Stars' goalie Matt Climie

After an unexpected 2-0 Calder Cup Finals lead returning home from Hershey, Pa., the Texas Stars dropped the next three at the CPC to the favored Hershey Bears and then one more on the road Monday 4-0 ending their epic first-year run just short of the prize.

Despite failing to hoist the Calder Cup, Texas could not have dreamed of a better inaugural season. Far exceeding all predictions and setting attendance records during their Calder Cup home games at the Cedar Park Center, fans were treated to high-level playoff hockey and the amazing skills of forward Jamie Benn (on loan from parent club the Dallas Stars) and the goaltending expertise of Matt Climie without whom the Stars’ campaign would have ended weeks ago.

Here’s to you Texas Stars! Can’t wait for next year.
