The Texas Longhorns opened their Big 12 schedule last weekend with a tough pair of overtime games, on the road against nationally ranked foes – a 1-1 draw at Baylor and a 2-1 loss at Oklahoma – after scoring first in both games. This week the Horns host Oklahoma State at 7pm Friday, Sept. 30, and Kansas at 1pm Sunday, Oct. 2. Like all home games, they’ll be broadcast on the Longhorn Network.

The St. Edward’s men have moved up to No. 3 in the nation in NCAA Div. II, their highest ranking ever, after running their record to 8-0 on the year (4-0 in Heartland Conference)… San Antonio FC concluded their first season this week, narrowly missing the USL playoffs on the last day of the season… There was bad news and good news this week for the U.S. Men’s national team: The Seattle Sounders announced that Clint Dempsey‘s season is over, a month after he was diagnosed with a career-threatening irregular heartbeat. Meanwhile 18-year-old American Christian Pulisic continued his remarkable progress with Germany’s Borussia Dortmund, assisting on the tying goal Tuesday in a 2-2 Champions League draw with European champion Real Madrid.
