The Austin Aztex host the PDL championships this Friday and Saturday at House Park (see “Aztex Host Playoffs at House,” and more on our sports blog at austinchronicle.com/blogs/sports).

On the national scene, Landon Donovan continues to impress in his “audition” for a return to the U.S. national team lineup. He scored one goal and set up the other four in a 5-1 romp over El Salvador in the Gold Cup quarterfinals. The U.S. faces Honduras in a semifinal as we go to press; the final against either Mexico or Panama is live on Fox, Sunday at 2:30pm.
