Both of Austin’s NCAA women’s teams were selected for their national tournaments this week, after dramatic late goals ended their conference tournaments in opposite fashion.

The University of Texas Longhorns bowed out of the Big 12 tourney Friday when top-seed Oklahoma State broke a scoreless tie with just two minutes left in the second overtime. Then on Saturday, St. Edward’s Kelly Servage scored with just 39 seconds left to beat Dallas Baptist, 2-1, for the Heartland Conference title. Both teams now go on to the NCAAs with tough road trips this weekend: St. Ed’s will be in Abilene, facing Midwestern State Friday afternoon, with the winner playing Abilene Christian on Sunday. The Longhorns, who must have been one of the last teams selected for the 64-team Division I field, are at No. 19 South Carolina Friday evening; the winner faces No. 1 Stanford next week.

Elsewhere, there’s international action this Friday and Tuesday, with the final playoffs in Euro 2012 qualifying, World Cup qualifying in North and South America and Asia, and the U.S. men playing at France (Friday, 1:55pm) and hosting Slovenia (Tuesday, 11am), both on ESPN2.
