Porto beat Portuguese rival Braga, 1-0, on Wed­nesday to lift the 2011 Europa Cup.
The Champ­ions League final is May 28.

Abby Wambach scored her first goal of the year Saturday in a 2-0 U.S. win over Japan, but veteran midfielder Lindsay Tarpley suffered an ACL tear and will miss the 2011 Women’s World Cup, which starts June 26 in Germany. Coach Pia Sundhage named the roster for the top-ranked U.S. team this week.

Diego Maradona, who coached Argentina at the 2010 World Cup, has a new job, at the helm of United Arab Emirates club Al Wasl, which finished last season in fourth place in the UAE Soccer League.
