Lots to like about the Austin Aztex home opener last Sunday, starting with the location – House Park has a great game-day atmosphere – and the scoreline: 2-0 over defending champion Montreal Impact. Plus: Lawrence Olum is a monster, and his memorable first goal was a rare combination of power and skill. Team defense looked pretty solid, especially in the middle. And above all, they finished the game strong: Late fades were last year’s bugaboo, but Jamie Watson‘s nice finish in the 77th minute killed a game that the Aztex seemed to dominate the longer it went. They’re at St. Louis this Saturday, 7:10pm – watch it live online at www.austinaztex.com – and back home April 24… Live on FSC: the Lazio-Roma derby, 1:30pm Sunday, April 18; Champions League semifinals, 1:30pm, April 20-21; Inter-Barcelona Tuesday, Munich-Lyon Wednesday.
