The Austin Aztex started selling season tickets and “Aztex Alliance” memberships this week in anticipation of the USSF Division II schedule that should be released any minute now. There’s a clever flexibility for season ticket purchasers: You get tickets to all 15 home games, but they can be used at any combination of games. Read all about it at www.austinaztex.com. The Aztex have made a couple of positive roster moves heading into their upcoming Feb. 13-14 open tryouts. They re-signed popular and productive Cuban midfielder Yordany Alvarez to a three-year contract (incidentally, he came out of last year’s open tryout). And they picked up a proven attacking midfielder in Lawrence Olum, second-team all-league last year with the Minnesota Thunder.

Elsewhere: Stoke City got a big win Sunday in the FA Cup fourth round, 3-1 over Arsenal… Interesting regional rivalries in the African Nations Cup semifinals: Egypt-Algeria, a rematch of their World Cup elimination game, and Ghana-Nigeria.
