The UT Lady Longhorns are back in action this week; practices are open to the public: Aug. 10-22, 8-10:30am and 8-9:30pm (approximate and subject to change). The all-Brazilian Copa Libertadores final, São Paulo-Internacional, is being played next Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 7:30pm. This is traditionally one of the most intense and colorful games on the annual calendar – highly recommended. It’s being shown live only on Fox Sports Español; I’d guess that Cafe Brasil and Sampaio’s will be hopping.

The European Champions League‘s third qualifying round is under way: Aug. 8-9, 22-23. UEFA Cup second round starts later this week as well. See results online.

The MLS All-Stars beat Chelsea, 1-0, on Saturday – just an exhibition game for the world’s most expensive team but still a shock result and a high-profile blow for the U.S. league.
