Longhorn freshman defenders Stephanie Logterman and Kasey Moore are getting some valuable experience this week down in Mexico – playing on the U.S. Under-20 National Team trying to qualify for the world championships being held in Russia this summer. Austinite Logterman (Westwood High) is one of the more experienced national team players, from last season’s U19 campaign, while Moore is earning her first national team caps. The U.S. swept its first-round games fairly easily, beating Jamaica, Surinam, and El Salvador, and must win just one of its last two games to qualify for Russia.

The grownups are alright, too: the U.S. Women won the prestigious Four Nations championship this week, beating host China, 2-0, in the final game. The amazing Kristine Lilly, playing the 302nd game of her 18-year international career, scored both goals, and finished as the tournament’s top scorer and MVP.
