Road Trip: It’s a stellar field for the NCAA Women’s College Cup, this weekend in College Station: three No. 1 seeds who are a combined 66-1-4 for the season. But the big story is the No. 1 seed who won’t be there: North Carolina, which was upset by Florida State in a penalty-kick shootout last weekend. The first semifinal pits two unbeatens in Penn State vs. Portland (who won it all when the finals were in Austin two years ago); the second has giant killers Florida State vs. UCLA, who are averaging more than five goals a game in the playoffs and have yet to be scored on. European Champions League: Some big names – AC Milan, Manchester United, Glasgow Rangers – are among those needing good results on the last day of group play, next Tuesday-Wednesday, Dec. 6-7.
