There was a lot of talk about parity in NCAA women’s soccer this year – how any of a couple dozen teams could win it all. But when the dust settled on the final eight this week, who’s left standing is all the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds. This Friday, it’s Florida State at North Carolina, Santa Clara at Penn State, Virginia at UCLA, and Notre Dame at Portland. Next weekend, Dec. 2 & 4, is the College Cup finals in College Station – Friday, 3:30 & 6:30pm, and Sunday, noon.

On the men’s side, the seeded teams are just going into action as we go to press; the round of 16 is this weekend.

In European Champions League action Tuesday, Manchester United lived to fight another day – but just barely. Full results are at “Soccer Watch Online.”
